Seven Lies

1 Mins read
Seven Lies Elizabeth Kay

The tired tropes of the domestic thriller are brushed away in Elizabeth Kay’s debut novel which is about the 20-year friendship of best friends Jane and Marnie. Jane narrates. Both young women marry, but Jane’s husband is soon killed by an errant taxi. She loathes Marnie’s intended, and when Marnie asks whether Jane believes they should marry, she tells her first lie. ‘Yes, I do.’ The consequences of each lie build up throughout, while Jane tries to draw you into sympathetic collusion – not-so-lucky lie seven. You see the world from Jane’s perspective and, while you may not believe her, you cannot turn away. Read our full review.
