I also resisted reading the Jo Callaghan books because of the AI aspect but I was persuaded to read the first one and really enjoyed it. Just finished the third in the series.
AI bothers me a lot too but equally it’s best to keep an open mind.
This list is dangerous for anyone trying to reduce their TBR pile. Every time I read a crime fiction roundup, I somehow end up adding five more books and pretending that’s a reasonable decision. I liked how these picks show the variety the genre offers, from different settings to different styles of suspense. A good crime novel really can make you forget what time it is.
