The Captive

1 Mins read
The Captive by Deborah O'Connor front cover

After the lockdowns we’ve endured, how would you feel if you were forced by the justice system to host a caged prisoner in your home? This is what happens to Hannah in Deborah O’Connor’s thriller, when she is effectively handed a life sentence, as she has to share her close quarters with Jem, the man convicted of killing her husband. Set in the near future, Hannah is angry and terrified and Jem is saying he is innocent. As Hannah searches John’s effects for clues and follows up leads she realises that there was a secret side to her husband – was he a bent cop or cheating on her? Does this make Jem’s claim more likely and can she trust him? Deborah O’Connor has plenty of tricks up her sleeve to keep you turning the pages and Hannah in increasing danger, until the truth is revealed.
