Dept. Q: Original novel Mercy prize draw

1 Mins read

If you’ve been enjoying Dept. Q on Netflix, why not go back to the original source? The first series of the show is based on Mercy by Jussi Adler-Olsen, which arrived in English translation in 2011. In the US it came out the following year as The Keeper of Lost Causes.

On Saturday 14 June 2025, you’ll be able to win a copy on our Facebook page.

We reviewed it on the site when it first came out and gave it five stars. The setting is Copenhagen, not Edinburgh, but the principal characters are similar to those in the Netflix series. It’s the first of 10 books in the original Department Q series, some of which were also adapted into movies for Danish TV.

You can also see our guide to the first seven Department Q novels here, or check out our coverage of Dept Q on Netflix in our preview.

If you can’t wait to find out if you’ve won, grab a copy with one of the buttons below and you’ll be supporting our site.
