Breathe

Literally a breath-taking debut from Dominick Donald, who captures a compelling sense of place and time in a book which is set in smoggy London in the early 1950s. There’s a murderer on the prowl who is using the pea soupers to disguise his deadly deeds, but probationer policeman Richard Bourton is the only person who has cottoned on to this sneaky serial killer and he’s having to work alone. Ex-soldier Bourton’s only hope is to make other people believe in the existence of a murderer who preys on the sick and vulnerable, but it’s an uphill battle. Read the full review here.
