The package we’ve been waiting for has arrived. Inside, an uncorrected proof of Never Go Back, the 18th Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child. Honoured this year with the CWA’s Diamond Dagger Award for his incredibly successful career writing in the genre, it appears as if the author has sent his star character back to the Army. To mark that, publisher Bantam Press has also sent us a khaki-coloured t-shirt emblazoned ‘Reacher said nothing’.
Released on 29 August, Never Go Back sees Reacher arrive back in Virginia for a visit to his old unit, the 110th Military Police. It’s in the hands of a new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner. Reacher hasn’t met her but he likes the sound of her voice on the phone. Trouble is, when he gets there it’s not her behind the desk. That’s not the only surprise – Reacher unexpectedly finds himself in the spotlight for a 16-year-old homicide.
Watch for our review of the book soon, and keep an eye on our Facebook page for your chance to win a ‘Reacher Said Nothing’ t-shirt. We reviewed the last Jack Reacher book A Wanted Man here, and we reported on the controversy over Tom Cruise playing the character in the film Reacher here.
