The latest issue of the UK’s only glossy magazine devoted to crime fiction has hit the shelves, and it’s looking very tasty – particularly if you love crime drama on TV. Normally £7.99 on the newsstand, with Crime Fiction Lover you can get 15 per cent off a single issue, or 15 per cent off a subscription.

The cover feature about the latest series of Sherlock – with an episode airing on New Year’s Day – is a great read. How do you like the look of Martin Freeman, as Watson, with white hair? (See below)
Other favourite articles for us include two great interviews. One is with Lee Child, creator of Jack Reacher, and the other with Jamie Dornan, who played Paul Spector in the BBC’s excellent TV series The Fall. Though it got off to a slow start, episodes five and six were mind blowing largely thanks to the actor’s performance, when it aired during September and October 2016. The magazine includes a spread looking at the various meals that were served in the series Hannibal, in a very dip-able, fun magazine-y type article that Crime Scene could use more of.
It’s elementary
For those who prefer the current US rendering of Sherlock Holmes, there is a four-page feature about Elementary, which has now reached 100 episodes. Modus, adapted in Sweden from Norwegian author Anne Holt’s books, is covered in another four-page feature by James Rampton. No Offense, Witness for the Prosecution, a Jonathan Creek special, Paradise City and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man are all covered in some depth for TV crime addicts. There are 48 book and DVD reviews as well, leading off with Rather Be the Devil by Ian Rankin, John Grisham’s The Whistler and Anne Holt’s Beyond Truth in print. Ian Rankin’s written a one-page column and the magazine features 10 historical crime novels as well.
That’s just a taste of what’s in the issue; there’s plenty more to get excited about in its 116 pages. Here are our highlights…
