First look: The Fresh Cut by Antti Tuomainen

Hand holding The Fresh Cut, a novel by Antti Tuomainen, from Finland

Finnish author Antti Tuomainen was a poet before he became a crime author, and his early crime novels took on a literary quality – that of dark tragedies.

However, he soon went in a new direction, infusing books like Little Siberia and The Rabbit Factor with a combination of dry wit, quirky absurdity and a noir sensibility that here at Crime Fiction Lover we find hard to say no to. Coming out on 8 November 2026, The Fresh Cut promises to continue the dark humour and the criminality in the author’s eminently readable voice.
