Let’s get things rolling with a legal eagle from Scotland. There’s also crime fiction set in Ireland, something historical and a couple of really quite intriguing contemporary thrillers.

There’s an unusual set-up for The Death Row Club, the debut thriller from VA Vazquez, out on 18 June, which is all about an annual weekend getaway for the adult children of serial killers.
