First look: Animal Farm illustrated by Quentin Blake

1 Mins read

It’s not a crime novel per se but it’s full of crimes. Perhaps some of them are similar to things we’re seeing in the world today? George Orwell’s classic critique of Soviet totalitarianism Animal Farm has been reprinted by The Folio Society with illustrations by Quentin Blake.

We’ve filmed our unboxing of this beautiful book for you to check out. As well as the cover and slipcase, the veteran British illustrator has created over 20 internal images and his lettering is used for the title page and chapter heads.

What’s interesting is that although he’s not known as a current affairs or political cartoonist, his gestural line work really does resemble the kind you’d see in a newspaper, lampooning a politician or policy.

More information can be found on the Creative Boom website. You can order a copy from The Folio Society for £49.95.
