First look: Ms Tree – The Cold Dish

1 Mins read
Ms Tree The Cold Dish by Max Allan Collins

Correction – this isn’t so much a first look as a first look at a very retro reprint that Titan Comics is pulling off with Hard Case Crime. Ms Tree is a crime comic harking back to 1984, written by Max Allan Collins and with artwork by Terry Beatty. It’s ideal for anyone who loves a bit of throwback hardboiled pulp, in the comic book/graphic novel format.

The story features the black widow-style PI, Ms Tree, who is six feet tall, carries a 9mm and considers no case too small and no violence too extreme, as long as the job gets done.

Volumes 1 and 2 have already been reprinted, and what you see here is from Volume 3, entitled The Cold Dish, which arrives on sale on 6 October 2021. You can pre-order your copy using the button below.

Max Allan Collins has had a stellar career in both comics – he wrote The Road to Perdition, which became a Hollywood blockbuster – and in crime fiction where he has written his own series as well as completing Mikey Spillane’s final Mike Hammer books using documents left when the author died.
