Here we are today with the exclusive cover reveal for Quarry’s Reunion by Max Allan Collins. When it goes on sale on 10 November 2026, it’ll be special book for a whole number of reasons.
If you don’t know Quarry yet, this’ll be the book that gets you schooled in more ways than one. Here, author Max Allan Collins pulls Quarry back somewhere he hasn’t been since before Quarry ever went to Vietnam, and long before he because a hitman taking out bad guys like drug traffickers, gangsters and their corrupt contacts in politics and business. Here Quarry returns to the town in Ohio where he grew up because an old girlfriend is holding a 50th reunion. “Nothing burns like an old flame,” the tagline tells us.
Of course, all the reminiscing and nostalgia will be put to one side once gunshots start ringing out, and Quarry is called back into action.
And indeed, 2026 is Quarry’s 50th anniversary. The first Quarry novel was released in 1976, just as Max Allan Collins was starting out his career in pulp fiction. Today, the author is a Mystery Writers of America Grand Master, and this will be the 19th novel to feature killer-for-hire, Quarry. As far as we know, at 50 years and still going, Quarry is the longest running series by one author in crime fiction.
In the past here on Crime Fiction Lover, we’ve reviewed The Wrong Quarry, Quarry’s Deal and Killing Quarry, as well as the comic adaptation of Quarry’s War. Each has featured outstanding cover art and Quarry’s Reunion will be no different, as you can see. This cover was commissioned by Hard Case Crime and painted by Paul Mann.
Over the years, Quarry has also featured in two films and a TV series. The only drawback now is that we have to wait until November to get our hands on it. How are we going to survive?
