In Sunlight or In Shadow

1 Mins read

Lawrence Block edited this collection of 17 stories that are all inspired, based on or riff off the paintings of the great Edward Hopper. Block makes the point in his introduction that Hopper paintings don’t tell a story but open up the possibility for a story to be told. Stephen King, Robert Olen Butler, Joyce Carol Oates, Lee Child, and Michael Connelly are some of the big names that fill this book and they all tell the stories begging to be told.  The writers Megan Abbott, Jill Block, and Craig Ferguson all standout in this collection and their stories are a cut above.  Read it if you are a Hopper fan, read it if you like art, read if you favorite writer is here.  Whatever you do, just read it. Oh, and read our review of it here as well.
