Lawrence Block’s inner lesbian

1 Mins read

Fans of American crime author Lawrence Block are in for a treat in February, when his new book Getting Off is released by Hard Case Crime, an imprint of Titan Books. Getting Off will be written under the pseudonym Jill Emerson used by Block in the 60s and 70s. It’s a female voice that he refers to has his ‘inner lesbian’.

The book has been described as a novel of sex and violence, and it tells the story of Kit Tolliver, who goes on a road trip hunting down everyone she’s ever slept with and eliminating them. In between enjoying sexual encounters and murdering her victims, she reflects on why she’s doing it. The press release is promising the strongest female lead character ever to appear in a crime novel. The book’s cover says it all, really, and was painted by award-winning illustrator Gregory Manchess.

Though Hard Case has published Block’s books before, this is his first full length hardback specifically for the publisher. It will also appear digitally. Watch for the review here on Crime Fiction Lover.
