The doctor will see you now… Kate Griffin

Dr Noir with crime author Kate Griffin

Continuing her series of vodcasts talking to crime fiction authors of all descriptions, Dr Noir returns to our site and with her this time is the English historical crime author Kate Griffin.

Watch the video below, in which the pair discuss Kate’s latest book, Fyneshade, a gothic novel set in Victorian times that sees governess Marta appointed to educate the daughter of Derbyshire squire Sir William Prichard. The problem is, the child will learn nothing and the other servants are giving Marta the silent treatment. Why? And what secrets does Prichard’s home hold?

Fyneshade all sounds a little bit Jane Eyre but is also billed as a retelling of The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, which turns 125 years old this year. That, and many other facets of Fyneshade’s creation, are what Dr Jacky Collins and Kate Griffin will discuss.

Have you read Fyneshade? If so, let us know what you think.
