It’s Dark in London

1 Mins read

If you’re not the sort of crime fiction lover who likes comics and graphic novels then look away now. However, if you are then It’s Dark in London might interest you. Self Made Hero are preparing to release this anthology of comicbook style stories all about the darker, seedier side of the capital. It’s not all crime fiction, but most of it walks in the shadows and you could definitely call it noir.

Some of the biggest names from the world of comics are involved, including Alan Moore, Dave McKean and Neil Gaiman. Even Alexei Sayle is in there, with writers paired with different artists – words and pictures working in collaboration to tell these short stories. “Here we see a city of looming towers, shadowy embankments and subterranean sleaze; of public bars and private vices; of huckster artists, strippers, vandals, thugs and addicts,” proclaims the release.

Below is the opening page from Come Down Town by Carol Swain, which sees DI Lahr attempting to catch somebody who’s going around Camden defacing things by painting them black. It’s Dark in London comes out 1 March and is edited by Oscar Zarate. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
