From the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Mars Attacks to Silent Hill, IDW Publishing has released comics across genres – even Dungeons & Dragons. Now, America’s fourth biggest comics publisher has announced a range of crime titles. Unlike many of the franchise-based series IDW has published in the past, its crime range will consist of new and original works. IDW Crime follows a formula that has already proven successful with the company’s horror imprint, IDW Dark.

There are some names to look out for involved. Eisner Award nominee Joey Esposito has penned Killer Influences, a story that focuses on a serial killer obsessed with fame – or infamy to be precise. Melvin might just be the best at what he does, leaving no clues, which means the media can’t come up with a narrative about his brand of killing. Things start to change when he connects with a true crime influencer. It arrives in July, sounds very… now… and has Valeria Burzo on pencils.

In May 2026, you’ll be able to get your hands on Seven Wives, written by Zoe Tunnell, with art by V Gagnon and Tesslyn Bergin. While seven wives doesn’t seem possible, it is within the Mormon faith and that’s where we’re looking here as two detectives investigate the murder of a man at an LDS compound in Arizona. There are 49 witnesses and some pretty dark themes to deal with as you work out whodunnit.

September will see the launch of Fixation, written by Amy Chase and drawn by Savanna Mayer. This too has a true crime element to it, and a key theme is addiction as two superfans obsessed with a vampire series win the chance to spend a weekend at the creepy location where the production is filmed. Trouble is, the body of a young woman turns up in the house and our winners are not alone. The killer is still on the property…

“Crime has a deep, often under-celebrated history in comics, from hardboiled noir to social thrillers that pushed the medium to be bolder, sharper, and more adult,” says senior group editor Heather Antos. “With the IDW Crime imprint, we’re honouring that legacy while giving it a modern spotlight – elevating creator-driven stories that feel urgent, character-forward and unapologetically human. These are stories about obsession, consequence and the ability to hold a mirror up to society, and we couldn’t be more excited to help bring them back to the forefront of mainstream comics.”

Each title will be a limited series, with each book promised to be 40 pages or more, at a price of $4.99 each.
