Rupture

Ragnar Jonasson’s Dark Iceland series began with Snowblind, and has continued with Blackout and Nightblind. Rupture fits between the latter two, and sees our detective Ari Thor Arasson re-opening a case going all the way back to 1955 and the suspicious death of a woman. While TV reporter Isrun helps Ari Thor, she’s also investigating her own story which involves both a kidnapping and a hit and run. A political angle emerges. A noir-ish feel, an Agatha Christie-style mystery, and the claustrophobic atmosphere of small-town Iceland are all conjured up by the author. Read our review here.
