Every City is Every Other City

Every City is Every Other City by John McFetridge front cover

Canadian writer John McFetridge has chosen to centre his new series in Toronto’s thriving film production community. Gordon Stewart works as a location scout, and moonlights as a private detective. He accepts a job to look for a missing family member of one of the production crew, and his investigation leads him into the murky world of undocumented labour and an examination of the growing trend of middle-aged male suicide. A tender romance with Ethel, a bit-part actress in his current production, provides an emotional anchor for the novel and is a real highlight. Read our full review here.
