Crime Fiction Lover

Hell Chose Me

Packed with interesting characters, Angel Luis Colón’s crime thriller follows hitman Bryan Walsh from his dysfunctional family in the Bronx to Ireland and his even more reprehensible Uncle Sean, an IRA hardliner who’s greeted peace in Northern Ireland by refocusing his love of violence onto pure crime. When Sean’s pathology becomes unbearable, Bryan returns to New York, where his kid brother’s diabetic stroke puts him in permanent – and costly – intensive care. Bryan needs money. And he has murderous skills. Colón makes wonderful use of language, especially in describing how Bryan’s victims haunt him, with an interior monologue that is unforgettable.
