The Drop

Mick Herron’s latest novella goes some way to satisfying the cravings of fans of his Slough House espionage novels who have already devoured last year’s London Rules and are eagerly awaiting the next novel, which won’t arrive until June. This short tale of duplicity within the ranks of MI6 involves a German double agent, and while it is less darkly comic than the preceding novels, its portrayal of arrogance and incompetence within the service is just as pointed as ever. The low price of The Drop reflects its brevity, but also serves to make it an affordable entry into the best British crime series of recent years. You can read the full review here.
