He writes young adult mysteries. He writes for TV. He writes books set in the Sherlock Holmes universe. He’s even written James Bond. The ever-inventive Anthony Horowitz here tries his hand at a throwback style story partly set in 1955, and partly set in the present day. The intriguing thing is that the 1955 bit here is actually a story written by a present day author, which you read, and which might have clues in to the very same author’s death. Most crime authors are lovely people, but Alan Conway, the fictional writer in question, was not. It’s down to his editor Susan Ryeland to find the missing chapters to Conway’s book and unravel his untimely passing. Brilliant concept, excellent author, read our review here.
