The Voices Beyond

John Theorin The Voices BeyondJohan Theorin is a master storyteller, and this fourth book in the Oland trilogy – each of which is based on a season – rounds it out with a tale of summertime death and mayhem. The terror begins when a young boy out paddling runs into a ship full of corpses. There’s only one living being on that ship and he’s got an ax, so the boy flees and is saved by 84-year-old Gerlof. Maybe the killing and carnage has to do with a Swedish soldier, recently returned to the island? The boy’s uncle decides to flush out the homecomer and then you get to find out what’s really going on.

Gripping, must-read Nordic noir, and you can read our full review here.
