The last Harry Hole novel, Police, came out in 2013 and focused on Harry’s return to the Oslo force when a serial killer was targeting officers. Some of his nearest and dearest were murdered. Now another killer is working in the city and they’re targeting people using the online dating service, Tinder. The killer’s MO reminds Harry of a nemesis from his past, so there could be a score to settle as well for the unorthodox detective.

The Thirst goes on sale on 20 April 2017, in what looks like it’ll be a big year for the author. Harvill Secker will also be publishing a 20th anniversary edition of Jo Nesbo’s first novel, The Bat, which is set in Australia. 2017 should also see the release of the long awaited film adaptation of The Snowman, with Michael Fassbender starring as Harry Hole and Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Let the Right One In) directing.
