Crime Fiction Lover

Golden Age of Murder

GoldenAge200

Are we recommending a non-fiction book. Well certainly, when it is an erudite and loving account of a genre for which pretty well all crime fiction lovers have a secret place in their hearts. This book takes us down some well-travelled roads, dealing with the genius of Agatha Christie, Dorothy L Sayers and Margery Allingham, but Martin Edwards also revisits some authors who have not fared so well since their heyday in the 1930s and 1940s. Who, today, reads Arthur Morrison and Anthony Berkeley? If this book stimulates some of us to rediscover these forgotten, but skilled practitioners of the English murder mystery, then it will have served its purpose.
