Today an unusual package arrived on the doorstep at Crime Fiction Lover HQ. Somewhat worryingly, it had to be signed for. Ever more concerning were the splats and smudges of blood.
Opening it, we found a postcard with a QR code on it reading Eeny Meeny as well as a blood-stained rag and a book.
Pulling the rag and the other contents from the box, we discovered the book Eeny Meeny by MJ Arlidge, and published by Penguin. There was also a pair of earphones. Figuring that the headphones might relate to the online content pointed to by the postcard, with its QR code, we typed on the web address on the card. (We were never ones for QR codes, anyway.) It led us to the YouTube clip below. If you’re reading this at your desk you might want to plug in your headphones before playing the video.
And here’s a closer look at Eeny Meeny, which is the first DI Helen Grace novel by MJ Arlidge. The book actually came out on 8 May and has been something of a hit in the psychological thriller category. According to the blurb, the perpetrator in this one leaves his victims alive but out of their minds. Abducted two at a time, the victims must kill or be killed and it’s down to Grace to stop the madness and catch what’s billed as an unseen monster.
If you’ve read it, do let us know what you thought. We’ll check it out soon and bring you a review.
