The Son focuses on three characters. First, there’s Sonny, a prisoner in an Oslo jail. He listens to the confessions of the other prisoners, and some think that he’s confessed to crimes he didn’t commit. Then there’s Inspector Simon Kefas, a conscientious Oslo detective who’s busy with a new murder case. And the link between them is Sonny’s father – Simon’s best friend, he was idolised by Sonny. Both of them were crushed when the father’s corruption was revealed. But is there more to the story?
There certainly is because this book’s an impressive size, and fans of Scandinavian crime fiction should watch for the review here on Crime Fiction Lover.
Big screen action
Things have been anything but quiet for Jo Nesbo lately. According to the release accompanying The Son, his Harry Hole thriller The Snowman is now being made with Martin Scorcese as producer. We recently reported that Nesbo is working on his own rewriting of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and we’ve reported on two further books in the works called Blood on Snow and Blood on Snow 2, written under the pseudonym Tom Johansen, also due to be shot for the big screen.
