Crime Fiction Lover

WIN! Lady of The Shades by Darren Shan

Although he’s best known for his young adult horror/fantasy books such as those in the Cirque du Freak and Demonata series, Irish author Darren Shan also enjoys writing crime fiction. His latest, Lady of The Shades, has a strong crime fiction flavour to it, and it comes out today.

The main character, Ed Sieveking, is an author who starts off innocently researching a book, but ends up grappling with gangsters and assassins in a dark and dangerous story that does indeed centre on a femme fatale. To complicate matters, Ed can see ghosts – but are they real, or in his  mind?

We interviewed the author here on Crime Fiction Lover, and a few days ago brought you a review of the book. “Lady of The Shades has a brilliant, jaw-dropping ending that will make you smile – maybe even laugh out loud. Shan’s writing is as smooth as a good Irish whiskey. He doesn’t waste words, but it never feels spare either, with detail and poetic touches drawing you to Ed and his self-absorbed ways,” we said, urging readers to get a copy.

And here is the chance to do just that. We’ve got five hardback copies to give away to our readers thanks to the book’s publisher Orion.
